Rental and Storage Services
Rental, Transformer Storage and Just-in-Time Delivery
Protrafo offers flexible transformer rental solutions to cover planned maintenance, unexpected failures, or peak demand periods — ensuring your operations are never interrupted. Our secure warehouse in Emmen provides short- and long-term transformer storage, with just-in-time delivery coordinated to match your project schedule.
Whether you need a temporary replacement unit within 24 hours or a long-term rental arrangement, our dedicated logistics team handles transport, placement, and commissioning support to minimise downtime and keep your project on track.
Transformer Commissioning
Safe, certified energization from our engineers
Our experienced commissioning engineers manage the full energization process, from pre-energization checks and protection relay testing through to final load testing and handover documentation. We coordinate with grid operators, contractors, and site teams to ensure a safe, compliant energization.
Available for new transformer installations as well as replacement units across the European Union. Protrafo commissioning engineers are IEC-qualified and familiar with the requirements of grid operators in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and beyond.
Revision, Retrofit and Testing
Testing, General Measurements and Assembling
Protrafo provides full revision services for end-of-life or non-conforming transformers — from a complete disassembly and inspection through to rewinding, oil replacement, and reassembly. We also perform general electrical measurements and acceptance testing for third-party units.
Our retrofit service brings older transformers up to current ECODESIGN Tier 2 efficiency standards, significantly reducing no-load losses and extending the service life of existing assets. All work is performed and documented in accordance with IEC 60076.
Maintenance, Oil Samples and Service
On-site, preventive and corrective maintenance, oil analysis and repairs
Protrafo's service team provides on-site preventive and corrective maintenance, including oil sampling and dissolved gas analysis (DGA), thermal imaging, insulation resistance testing, and tap-changer inspection and servicing.
We offer annual maintenance contracts and on-call emergency response for transformer failures across the EU. Our field engineers are available 24/7 and can typically be on site within hours for urgent interventions — keeping your critical infrastructure running.

Transformer energy consultancy, root cause analyses and reporting
Our consultancy service supports grid operators, industrial clients, and project developers who need independent technical expertise on transformer selection, performance evaluation, failure analysis, or lifecycle management.
Services include root cause analysis for transformer failures, energy loss audits, ECODESIGN compliance assessments, specification writing, and independent witness testing. Protrafo consultants have deep experience across distribution, power, and specialty transformer applications.
Transport and Logistics
Export-grade crating, secured road transport and just-in-time delivery
A transformer is only truly delivered when it reaches your site in perfect condition and on time. Protrafo manages the full journey — packing and loading at our facility, secured road transport, and offloading at your location — so your project keeps moving without surprises.
For larger units we plan project logistics end to end, including abnormal-load coordination, route surveys, and crane and rigging support across the Netherlands and the rest of Europe. Every transformer is crated to export grade and lashed down with certified equipment.
